In a global and historical perspective it seems that Poland has reached its golden age around the 16th century during the wealthy and powerful Jagiello dynasty was largely downhill since then. Visit the Great Mazury Lake District in the north, where almost 15% of the surface is of lakes and canals, its picturesque villages. This is a paradise for cycling, canoeing and hiking. Do not miss the 13th century Malbork Castle, the seat of the Order Teutonic, which holds the title as the largest medieval castle in Europe. Then, as you find some of the resorts on the Baltic Sea, stop along the coast of Gdansk, the historic city medieval Hanseatic trading has been fully restored in the 20th century. Even if you make your way east to visit Bialowieski National Park to see Europe's last Bison original failure to survive in the 14th century the city of Torun, instead paying tribute Nicolaus Copernicus' of birth. To skiing and hiking, the Sudeten mountain range winds through the southern part of Poland, including the evacuation of people in the mountains Tetra.
